2025 TOP WINDOW TREATMENT TRENDS

Window Treatments

January and February are peak winter months in the Midwest and it’s the time of year many homeowners will begin assessing their list of home upgrades they want to tackle in the new year. Like every other product, technology in window treatments is continuously evolving, but there are a few trends that we don’t see expiring any time soon as we head into 2025.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY REMAINS POPULAR

Energy-efficient window treatments continue to be a popular choice this year among homeowners seeking to reduce energy consumption and enhance comfort. Cellular shades provide superior energy efficiency, and are the most energy-efficient shade style available. Their honeycomb construction traps air in distinct pockets, creating an extra layer of insulation at the window. This additional layer design helps keep the home warm during the winter and cool during the hot summer months.

As energy costs rise and environmental concerns grow, more homeowners are prioritizing sustainable options that offer both practical benefits and cost savings. Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, energy-efficient home upgrades are more accessible and affordable, and rebates are oftentimes available.

CORD-FREE IS THE WAY TO BE

In June 2024, the Consumer Product Safety Commission and the Window Covering Manufacturers Association in the United States released new regulation mandates requiring window coverings to be sold as cordless or equipped with inaccessible cords/approved tensioning devices. While it may seem like it was a big shift in product development, cordless window shades have been a top choice for the last few years. Not only are cordless window treatments safer for everyone, they have a sleek aesthetic that is perfect for a seamless, uncluttered design.

HOME AUTOMATION UPGRADES IN DEMAND

Hands-free automation is an option we will be seeing more and more of throughout 2025. Not only do motorized window treatments allow the homeowner to control their blinds with a smartphone app or via voice command – they also allow for the option to be programmed. Do you want your blinds to rise with the sun or close with the sunset? It’s a simple setting and can be automated for any and all days. Not only is it a convenience, it makes for a great home security feature while homeowners are away.
